The Pay Phone Network
(compliments of NCIC Operator Services)
As the big phone companies such as SBC, AT&T, BellSouth, Verizon, Bell Canada, Telus and Qwest exit the payphone industry, a need has arisen to help businesses quickly and conveniently locate a pay phone for their establishment or local government. The Pay phone Network has been designed to more easily connect potential payphone customers with companies that either sell payphones or provide payphone services. Through The Pay phone Networks referral program, we will either direct you to the nearest public telephone provider to your location or direct you to one of several companies that sells or leases coin phone equipment. Additionally, we will also forward Municipal / Government Pay phone and Inmate Telephone Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to the nearest and best qualified provider to your town or facility.

What is happening to all the Pay Phones?
The answer is Mobil Phones!
On December 3, 2007, AT&T announced that they will sell all 60,000 pay phones they operate. They state that they "want to get out of the dwindling (pay phone) business as more people are switching to mobile (phones)".
According to the Federal Communications Commission, there were more than 2 million pay phones in the United States in 2000. By 2007, the number has plunged to below 1 million. During that time, the number of cellphones in use in the United States has climbed to more than 218 million.
